COMMUNITY PRESERVATION DESIGN was established in 1994 as an architectural, graphic, problem-solving service. As the name indicates, this comprehensive approach is intended is to preserve unique community aspects in Butte, surrounding areas, and all of Montana. These aspects are both new and historic in nature. They include, but are not limited to environmental and energy solutions, cultural preservation, and quality-of-life issues unique to Montana and its residents.

Community Preservation Design is a company that does not limit itself to the size or type of project. I have designed and preserved a vast array of projects, ranging from porches, handrails, ADA compliant restroom modifications, historic plaques, bench shelters, decorative lighting (for mining headframes), small residences, interior restoration and rehabilitation, building conservation ( aesthetic security board-ups and roofing), public facilities, adaptive reuse of a major public-use building, multi-family housing, religious design, interpretive sites and monuments, just to name a few.

In addition to typical architectural services, I have extensive (20+ years) government experience that allows for assistance with various government programs and their associated funding challenges. These services could include grant writing assistance, concept development and estimates, application assistance, follow-through and tracking of supplemental requirements. Programs such as: Local Tax Increment Finance Districts (TIFID), Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Intermodal Surface Transportation Enhancement Act (ISTEA), applications for environmental trust funds and programs.

Alternative energy and resource conservation, energy evaluation and weatherization, aesthetic integration of alternative energy, solar, wind, thermal.

Services Offered: Individual, organizational and community/government services that include all aspects of architectural services (concept preliminary design, design development, final plans and specifications/bidding documents, bidding and construction administration, and project management)
Consenual planning, grant writing, government program assistance (Federal Historic Preservation Tax Credit, etc), Community Programs
